Rome Marathon 2010

The 16th edition of the Marathon of the City of Rome, now part of the IAAF-AIMS calendar is being organized.

The race will take place on Sunday March 21 from 9.00, starting from Via dei Fori Imperiali.

The 42 kilometers of the race wind around all the main sites of the Eternal City, on a route that has been studied to limit the irregularity of the roads.

The route goes past historical squares in the capital, and past the holy seats of three great religions, St Peter's, the Synagogue and the Mosque, and also the greatest sites of Ancient Rome.

The finishing post will be set up next to one of Rome's icons: the Coliseum. In the week leading up to the event the Marathon Village will be opened at Palazzo dei Congressi in the heart of Roma EUR from March 18 to March 20.

Runners can pick up their numbers here and the Marathon race pack, and can also visit the stands and watch concerts and entertainment.

The Rome Marathon will be followed, as is now tradition, by more than 40,000 runners from the Stracittadina Fun Run, a non-competitive 5km race for everyone, young and less young.

Enrolment can be carried out at the Marathon Village until the day before the race.
