Napoleon: Imperial Pomp

From February 15 to 25, 2010, at the Museo Napoleonico Romano, it will be possible to visit the part of the Trésor della Fondation Napoléon of Paris
dedicated to the First Empire.
The show, which has already been exhibited in France, Mexico and Germany, includes 200 works
In addition to the works belonging to the treasure of the Fondation Napoléon, which will be housed in a new museum exhibit space inaugurated for this occasion, it will also be possible to see two paintings on loan from Museo Praz in addition to several pieces coming from the Musée de l’Armée, the Musée de la Malmaison and from a private French collection.
The show is a perfect fit for the historic-artistic context of the Napoleonic museum and allows immersing oneself in the most intimate and domestic aspects of the Imperial court. One can see drawings, painting, miniatures, jewelry, pocket watches, furnishings, clothing and porcelains, all pieces that best express the magnificence of the Imperial court and that symbolize the careful work of the artist-craftsmen of the period.
The exhibition is divided into 6 sections: one of the most significant is the area dedicated to porcelain, which includes pieces of rare beauty, such as the “fuseau” vase made in Sèvres, decorated with a portrait of Napoleon in his royal coronation costume. There are numerous works dedicated to Napoleon in battle, such as the large canvas by Boze, Lefèvre and Vernet. The last section is dedicated to this historic figure's last years of life spent on Saint Helena, where you can see several of the emperor's personal objects.
